EFL Cup: Aguero heads Manchester City to victory over Bristol

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero’s last-gasp strike secured a 2-1 victory over Bristol City in their English Football League (EFL)  Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday. This was after the second-tier side had frustrated the English Premier League leaders for most parts of the match.  Manchester City, who have dished out a string of maulings in a stellar league campaign, found the Championship side a tough nut to crack. They had to wait until the second minute of added time to grab the winner when Argentine substitute Aguero slipped in to head home. The visitors had opened scoring with a penalty kick just before half-time after central defender John Stones had fouled Bobby Reid, who dispatched the spot kick with aplomb. Women In Saudi Arabia To Attend Football Matches On Friday For First Time

Women in Saudi Arabia would be allowed to attend football matches on Friday for the first time in the conservative kingdom, authorities said on Monday. Female fans would enter major sports stadiums in the Kingdom to attend three football matches involving local sides as part of the Saudi Professional League competition, the government-run Centre for International Communication said in a statement. The three fixtures are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Jan. 18, the statement added without further details. In October, the Saudi General Sports Authority, a state agency, said that as of early 2018 three stadiums, up to now male-only facilities, would be prepared to be ready for families, including allocation of special places for seating and entrances. Afrobasket: D’Tigers beat Senegal 76-71, meet Tunisia in final

Nigeria’s Senior men Basketball team, D’Tigers defeated Senegal 76-71 points in a semi-final of the 2017 FIBA Afrobasket encounter on Friday night. Nigeria’s match against Senegal was tagged ‘final before final’ by fans of African basketball and it proved its tag as Senegal made the first few droppings after a jump ball, Nigeria led the first quarter 15-12 points and won the second quarter  34-29. The Nigerian Tigers still led  18-16 points at the end of the third quarter while Senegal managed to pick 26 points more than Nigeria’s 24 points at the end of the last quarter.
